In short

The game for third place
The losers of the two semi-finals play against each other. It is a single game and runs parallel to the final on two fields. It hardly takes any time.
In the event it is a single game in the final phase. You use the two teams as soon as the semi-finals have been played. There is a placeholder there beforehand.
Places five to eight
Same rule one round earlier. The four losers of the quarterfinals play two placement semifinals. Their winners play for 5th place, the losers for 7th place. That's four additional games.
If “places 5 to 8 shared” is enough for you, all four are eliminated. If one decision for fifth place is enough for you, it's three. The group phase is similar: the third places play for the places behind the qualifiers, the fourth places play for the last place.
Whatever time you need for it
Each placement game is a full slot. Eight teams with semi-finals, third place game and final are four knockout games after the group, not three. In two fields, the semi-finals are one wave, third place and the final are the next.
It's better to cancel a placement game than to whistle for the final after the hall closes.
