Swiss system

Many teams, little time. Every team plays a fixed number of rounds, not everyone.

Swiss fits when a round robin would be too many games. Add it with “+ Swiss” in the phase and enter the slots and the rounds. As a rule of thumb, use as many rounds as a knockout with the same field would have, so three rounds for eight teams.

Round 1 appears once every slot has a team. Seeded teams are paired top half against bottom half. You pair each later round with “Pair the next round”, and only after every result in the current round is in. Until then you can still correct a score.

Teams on similar points play each other. Nobody meets the same opponent twice while that is still possible. With an odd number, the lowest team that has not had a bye yet gets one. A bye counts as a win.

Ties can use Buchholz and median Buchholz: the sum of the opponents’ points, and for the median that sum without the best and the worst opponent. After that, a placeholder such as “1. Swiss” can feed a knockout phase.
